³ûÖÊÓƵ Professor to Screen Fulbright-Hays Applicants

Political science professor Dr. Mohamed Daadaoui was invited to serve on a committee to screen U.S. graduate students’ applications for the Fulbright-Hays Scholarship.

Daadaoui’s membership is good for three years on the Committee for Study in Near East at the Institute of International Education (IIE), beginning with this year’s competition. The process involves reading and rating approximately 60 to 75 applications prior to meeting with fellow committee members in December in Chicago, and recommending a limited number of candidates for further consideration.

The IIE annually conducts scholarship competitions for U.S. graduate students wishing to pursue study, research or professional training abroad under the prestigious Fulbright-Hays Program and the Gilman Scholarships sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, and for other awards offered by foreign governments, universities and private donors. To assist in the selection of candidates, the institute convenes a national screening committee comprised of area specialists and authorities in various fields to review applications and nominate candidates to the award sponsors.
