֭Ƶ’s Norick Art Center will host an exhibit titled “Domestic Inquiries” featuring the photography of Sam Charboneau Feb. 23 through Aug. 12, with an artist talk at 6 p.m. March 24. Gallery admission and the artist talk are free to the public.
The exhibit will be in the art center’s Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery, 1608 NW 26th St. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Charboneau pulls inspiration from stop-motion animators, building puppets and sets to bring her serious yet lighthearted dreams into reality. As a self-taught artist, she uses the traditional methods of trial and error, evolving her sets along the way. In creative recycling efforts, Charboneau challenges herself to mostly use what she has available or what she can find second hand.
Charboneau’s work has appeared in the annual OVAC 12×12 fundraiser and in the Paseo Arts District’s Art Space shows, including Photofest, Small Show, Members Show and the 4×4 fundraiser. She recently completed a year-long residency in the Paseo which culminated in a solo show. She was also one of the first artists to display work at the new Oklahoma Contemporary Museum in 2020.
